Climbing & Abseiling

Whether you're new to this exciting sport, or an experienced lead climber seeking to refine your skills, GMAC has a climbing program to suit you. We know the Grampians and Mt. Arapiles intimately, and will tailor a climbing experience to satisfy your needs for adventure.

If you're a nervous beginner, don't worry. If you're looking for skills training to bring you up to speed for you ACIA instructors' course, then let us know. Remember, we are here to provide YOU with the adventure you are seeking.

Abseiling is a wonderful introduction to mountain adventure. Simply put, it the technique for travelling down a rope - and it is used in a variety of circumstances.

Rock climbers use abseiling to get back down to the ground after a climb, or to escape if things become difficult. Today, the technique is popular in itself - as a great way to experience the vertical world.

We offer abseils of different difficulties, at a number of spectacular locations. If you're anywhere between 5 and 105, then we have an abseil to thrill you!

Session types are as follows :

• Half-Day Introductory sessions @ $75 per adult & $60 per child. Group minimum 2. This is a fantastic experience of the vertical world. Session covers both rock-climbing & abseiling tailored to the ability of the client. DURATION 3.5-4 HOURS.
  
  
• 3 Quarter Day Introductory session @ $99.95 per adult & $75 per child. Group minimum 2. A bit longer and more adventurous than the Half-day session, this includes climbs from various cliff aspects, and some spectacular abseiling. Duration 5 HOURS
  

• Full-Day Introductory sessions @ $125 per adult & $100 per child. Group minimum 2. A great day out if you're fit and up for a lot of climbing and abseiling. Pack lunch and don't forget a camera! DURATION APPROXIMATELY 7 - 8 HOURS

• Half-Day multi-pitch / private guiding @ $150 with 1 person, $100 each with 2 people & $75 each with three people. This is an advanced mode of climbing which allows more serious and personalised instruction. Maximum group size of 3. DURATION 4 HOURS

• Full-Day multi-pitch / private guiding @ $300 with 1 person, $150 each with 2 people & $125 each with 3 people. This is an advanced mode of climbing which allows more serious and personalised instruction. Maximum group size of 3. DURATION APPROX. 8 HOURS

• We also tailor multi-day sessions. Let us know what YOU want.

We provide ALL equipment in the price, you only need dress comfortably, and bring water, camera and lunch if coming out for a full day. Our introductory sessions are a fantastic way to get a taste for the vertical world. We teach many people to lead climb safely and competently . . . so choose the private guiding session type if this is what you are after.

INDIVIDUALS

GMAC is a personable adventure company, and enjoys working with smaller groups.

If you are backpacking through the area, or just want to book ahead for yourself or a group of friends . . . then please contact us, we'll return your call/enquiry ASAP to organise a day out.

GMAC maintains an intimate instructor/client ratio, to ensure you will experience the whole deal. You may even choose private guiding, which guarantees exclusivity to you (max. 3 people).

We have introductory, half-day, or full-day adventures available - or more if you so choose. Sessions are progressive, we like to think that we teach skills as well as providing an enjoyable experience.

COMMUNITY GROUPS (discounts apply)

Does the footy team need some teambuilding so they can kick butt in the upcoming season? Does your social club need a change of location for a bit of renewed interaction?

Our guides have extensive experience in showing community groups a good time. You need not feel pressured - you can participate to your maximum, or just soak up the views and fresh air.

All equipment is provided, you need only bring yourselves and a sense of adventure. Ask us about catering options, and transport if you so require.

CORPORATE GROUPS (discounts apply)

The workplace can often get a bit stale, only so many coffees will numb the pain.

Why not get out of town and hit a place of adventure? Corporate hierarchy doesn't apply out on the rocks, so GMAC can provide an excellent day of bonding and fun.

With accommodation nearby, you have the option of living it up in style after a day on the rock. Catering can be provided, so you can wine and dine in spectacular locations.

SCHOOL & UNIVERSITY GROUPS (discounts apply)

GMAC has extensive experience with school groups, both primary and secondary - and universities!

Educating students in mountain craft and climbing skill is one of our primary objectives as a company. We are happy to pass on our knowledge, and are aware that the park environment is conducive to a great school camp.

Whether you are looking to organise an afternoon out, or a multi-day outdoor ed. camp - we can help and advise and facilitate. Our staff are well qualified and know the Grampians and Mt Arapiles intimately.

We can suggest campgrounds in the area, or local cabin style accommodation. We offer competitive quotes, and are easily to contact!

SKILLS TRAINING

Do you wish to take your climbing that little bit further - to perhaps even become an instructor?

Or would you simply like to hone your present knowledge, and learn new techniques?

For example, GMAC can teach you how to climb BIG WALLS, how to MULTI-PITCH efficiently, or how to BOULDER well.

Are you looking to undertake the ACIA (Australian Climbing Instructors' Association) intake program? All GMAC guides have ACIA qualifications, and we can get you up to speed on the techniques required for ACIA.

Terms and Conditions, including cancellation policy:

1. Bookings are required for any session to be undertaken. You should contact GMAC as far in advance as is possible to secure the date you prefer.

2. Deposits (10%) are required for bookings of over 5 participants. We can refund or transfer this amount if notice is given within 2 weeks.

3. GMAC reserves the right to determine if an activity needs to be cancelled due to extreme weather conditions or other safety concerns. Full refund can be arranged, or the session date changed to more appropriate conditions.

4. Participants must adhere the safety protocols outlined in the session by the instructor. Failure to do so may result in session cancellation.

5. Payment can be made for sessions by EFT (direct deposit) prior to the session, or by cash or cheque or valid voucher on the day.
